MrKrazyMan

MrKrazyMan is a Guatemalan visual artist and creative director whose work begins with a simple discomfort: the idea that things can disappear without leaving a trace.

Through murals, illustration, painting, stickers, publications, and interventions in public space, he builds a visual record of the places, characters, symbols, and contradictions that surround him. His work draws from the visual noise of Guatemala: its streets, popular culture, mythology, nature, humor, disorder, and the images that exist outside traditional archives.

Characters have become a recurring part of this language. Often distorted, imperfect, strange, or darkly humorous, they allow him to explore error, death, identity, memory, and the tension between what is preserved and what eventually disappears.

This relationship with impermanence is especially present in his work on walls. A mural can take days to create and still be altered by sunlight, rain, another person, or time itself. Rather than resisting this condition, he treats it as part of the work. Painting becomes a way of leaving evidence, while documenting becomes a way of extending its memory.

His work has traveled beyond Guatemala through exhibitions, festivals, publications, and independent cultural platforms. It has been presented in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, and other contexts, including multiple editions of Pictoplasma Berlin, Secret Garden of Street Art in Amsterdam, and exhibitions in New York, where he presented work with UNFOLD Gallery in 2024.

His work has appeared in publications including De Mi Barrio a Tu Barrio (Germany, 2014), Sticker Mestizo 2 (Colombia, 2018), and Sticker Bomb 3 (2024). In 2021, Capiusa magazine named him one of the 50 most influential Guatemalan illustrators of the previous 15 years. His work is also part of The Greats permanent collection and has participated in initiatives such as UNFK the World during Climate Week New York in 2023.

He has been a finalist in the BICeBé Poster Biennial in Bolivia, the Brightness Illustration Awards in the United States, the Iberoamerican Design Biennial, and the HiiBrand International Illustration Competition in China.

His practice rests on training uncommon in urban art. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and a Master’s in Marketing, with further study in user experience and artificial intelligence, and in 2024 he completed Mapas de la Disidencia, a diploma program in the research and curation of urban art in Latin America. That methodological rigor runs through the work: it shapes how he researches a context, how he documents what he paints, and how he builds the archive that holds it.

At the center of all these projects is the same impulse: to pay attention to what might otherwise disappear, and leave evidence that it was here.
